Sketching astronomical objects

This site is dedicated to my astronomical drawings. Sketching deep-sky objects helps to improve observing skills.
Over time - my technique should become better...

This site is about sketching astronomical deep-sky objects. The observation blog lists sketches chronologically allowing to observe improvements over time. Use the sketch galleries for browsing drawings.

The self made section contains some articles with construction advice for astronomical equipment. The low cost star tracking EQ platform is an essential tool when it comes to drawing astronomical sketches.

A bunch of high quality free PDF star maps, licensed under a creative commons are available for download. Those who are interested in the process of sky chart creation, should have a look at StarMapStudio. Last updates and the newest maps are listed on the Star maps - Latest new page.

Well, this should not happen: the requested page cannot be found.

Possible reasons for that:

  • the requested content was moved, there was a major website update lately ;)
  • a search engine or some forum thread was listing an out-of-date link for this site

In the real world, I'm a Belgian IT-professional living in Germany with wife and daughters. Apart from astronomy, making music is another free time occupation of mine.

How it began

I got bitten by the astrofever in the year 2003 when everybody was talking about Mars. I attended some Mars events organized by the local observatory but I left with many open questions. I soon found myself sitting astonished in a dark place observing the beauty of deep space...

Clear skies!
